Frequently Asked Questions...

Q) How do I search for events and store them for future reference?
A) Your product Quick Guide will help you to quickly learn to search and store your video images and events. If you don't have a copy of the Quick Guide, contact Technical Support or go to the "download" web page to obtain one.

Q) How do I watch my business from another computer?
A) Remote software is provided that may be installed on any Windows based PC or Laptop. VMS Technical Support can walk you through this set-up during your initial installation.

Q) What do I need to watch remotely?
A) You'll need a Windows based computer (NT, W2000, XP), remote software (RMS or RDVR) and reliable high speed broad band internet connectivity.

Q) I keep hearing a chirping noise coming from the DVR. How do I get it to stop?
A) If you hear a chirping noise coming from the DVR system, it could mean you have one or more cameras out not providing a video signal. This audible alert is designed to inform of a lost video signal. Call VMS service or technical Support, we'll remotely turn off the offending camera, submit a service ticket and schedule a service call.

Q) My DVR is not powering up?
A) Verify that the computer system is plugged into a "live" power source and the AC rocker switch on the back (if it has one) is in the "I" position. Note: Not all DVR systems have a rocker switch on the back. Verify that the monitor attached to the computer is plugged into a "live" power source and the monitor is turned on. Note that some monitor's power-on indicator will light a different color (amber, yellow etc.) or blink for the first few seconds after the DVR is turned on. If the system power is on, but only beeps, please check the following: 2 Beeps - Monitor Connection Not Found. Verify that the monitor cable is connected. Note: The system will still continue to load as usual if the power is on. 5-7 Beeps = Video Card Not Found. Note: If this failure continues, please contact VMS Service or Technical Support for service.

Q) All I see are black/blue screens for each camera?
A) Check to make sure that your camera's power supply is working and has power applied and connected. Check your camera cable connections. Make sure they are all tight and the main bridal cable is plugged securely into the PC system. Note: If this failure continues, please contact VMS Service or Technical Support for service.

Q) Who do I contact if I have a problem or question?
A) If you should require direct or immediate assistance, please call 877-323-CCTV. Our office hours are from 8am to 6pm Eastern Standard Time. If you should have an emergency (your DVR is not recording or will not turn back on) leave a message on our voice mail or e-mail us at Eservice@vmscctv.com.
